PURPOSE: A method for preparing an inorganic porous insulation material is provided to prevent partial hardening and strength reduction. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing an inorganic porous insulation material comprises: a step of adding inorganic acid to silicate and preparing a silica compound through a gellation process at pH 3.0-8.0(S21); a step of drying the silica compound at 80 deg. C. or more by hot wind and pulverizing the dried silica compound to prepare porous silica powder(S22); a step of adding 5-35 parts by weight of the silica powder(S23); a step of adding 10-78 parts by weight of a porous inorganic filler(S24); a step of mixing the silica powder and the inorganic filler(S25); and a step of adding 15-55 parts by weight of magnesium phosphate-based inorganic binder and mixing(S26,S27).
