PURPOSE: An optical line monitoring system and a method thereof are provided to automatically identify an optical line of each pulse indicated in an OTDR(Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) pulse pattern by using stored distance information. CONSTITUTION: A line inspecting device(120) receives a plurality of OTDR pulses reflected by transmitting the OTDR pulse to each optical end device. The line inspecting device stores a plurality of the OTDR pulses as a reference OTDR pulse pattern in DB(DataBase). The line inspecting device confirms the distance information of each pulse in the reference OTDR pulse pattern. The line inspecting device matches the pulse and the identification information in the optical end device in order to match the ranking of the pulse with the ranking of the optical end device.
