<p>New equipment and processes are disclosed for the direct production of interstitial free Steel and alloy Steels. Iron source are conventional ores (Fe2O3), complex silicate ores and iron sulfide ores, steel and electronic scrap. The reductants (fuels) are household and city garbage, various types of coals and cokes, used separately or mixed together. Metals, plastics and refractory materials are picked from garbage and sent to their utilization places. Steel scrap and electronic scrap are made free of their plastic and non ferrous metal contents. Separated pure iron or iron oxides are melted in the same furnace using high purity reducing gases prepared from garbage or coal. Heating is done using oxygen or mixture of air and oxygen. Approximately pure hydrogen or mixture of hydrogen and methane is obtained from reduction gases by shift reactions and cryogenic separation of CO2 . Hydrogen is used for the separation of non ferrous metals and plastics from scrap. Steel is made is a refractory cooled high temperature reactor. Liquid steel is changed to micro particles before solidification of steel and then these particles are collected in an attached refractory lined cylinder and piston arrangement. It is extruded under pressure through an appropriately shaped externally cooled steel die. Exit from the die are cooled under cold inert gas. The end products flats and shapes are on line heat treated and dip coated before cutting to sizes.</p> |
