A method of purifying water and soil from oil and oil products by a expanded graphite-based oil-sorbent includes producing a sorbent on-site of emergency spill by thermal expansion of an oxidized graphite, dosed application of a sorbent on contaminated surfaces of water or soil, squeezing the saturated sorbent by evacuation, subsequent regeneration of the pressed sorbent by rapid heating and thermal expansion in a cyclone furnace and reuse of the sorbent.
