The purpose of the present application is to provide technology that makes work paperless and achieves a streamlining and tightening of clerical work relating to transactions. A terminal device in an electronic receipt system acquires biometric authentication information for a first user and biometric authentication information for a second user who is a transaction partner of the first user. Electronic tallies are generated on the basis of the biometric authentication information of both users. Electronic receipts containing information on the transaction between the first user and the second user are generated, that is, a first electronic receipt that has one of the electronic tallies and a second electronic receipt that has the other electronic tally are generated. The first electronic receipt is stored in a memory device possessed by the first user. The second electronic receipt is stored in a memory device possessed by the second user.
