The method involves driving a vehicle with a cold start of the vehicle by operating an electric machine (5) without operating a combustion engine (2). An objective rotation speed is determined in dependence of velocity information characteristic for speed of the vehicle. The combustion engine is started for heating the catalytic converter. A clutch (7) is opened for heating of the catalytic converter during operation of the combustion engine so that the combustion engine does not drive the vehicle. The combustion engine is brought on objective rotation speed after closing the clutch. An independent claim is included for hybrid vehicle.
