The arrangement (1) has an inductor (5), and a shield (15) which is arranged relative to the inductor. The shield is provided such that the concentration of the field lines (11) generated by inductor in the edges (13,29) of a heated workpiece (3) is avoided. The shield is made of plastic, ferrous particles and paramagnetic particles. The shield is formed of L-shape, with the legs (19,21) oriented parallel to the workpiece. An independent claim is included for a method for inductive heating of workpieces.
