<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The element (1) has retainers (3, 3.1-3.5) curved around an axis (2) to accommodate a pipe to be widened. A side wall (4) of each retainer comprises a clamping portion (5) brought against the pipe in an operative position to bring the pipe against a counter section in a clamping position. The clamping portion is formed by material projections (6.1, 6.2), which continuously run over periphery of the retainer without displacement towards the axis, where cross section area of the material projections is outwardly reduced. #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for widening a pipe (2) a device for flanging a pipe. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Clamping element for a clamping apparatus (claimed) for fixing a pipe e.g. metallic pipe such as copper pipe, to be widened. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The clamping portion is formed by the material projections, which continuously run over the periphery of the retainer without displacement towards the axis, so that the clamping element with its clamping portion acts only on a small area of the pipe to be processed, thus achieving that the pipe experiences only local surface pressure during fixing the pipe, and hence reducing deformations in the course of widening the pipe while realizing corrosion protection effect of the pipe.
