The system has a source mat (30) arranged between a base portion (11) i.e. base point, of a fuel cell (10) e.g. high temperature fuel cell and ceramic tubular fuel cell, and edge sections (21a, 22a) of a carrier element (20) e.g. base plate. The base portion is arranged adjacent to apertures (21b, 22b) of the carrier element. The edge sections of the carrier element are surrounded at the apertures. The source mat is made of inorganic and/or mineral and/or ceramic material. The carrier element comprises carrier plates (21, 22). The high temperature fuel cell is a solid oxide fuel cell. An independent claim is also included for a tubular fuel cell.
