An engaging member (54) (latching plate piece (54P)) for holding, at the raised (lifted) position, a toilet seat support member (30) (bracket (32)) which pivotingly supports a toilet seat (14). The engaging member engages with the upper edge of a protruding section (52P) which protrudes from a vertical groove (42G) of a support rod (42), shifts diagonally with respect to the raising/lowering direction, and protrudes onto the upper surface of the toilet bowl body (12); and holds the toilet seat support member (30) at the raised position. It is thereby possible to readily clean the toilet bowl without the toilet seat support member dropping accidentally even if the toilet seat support member at the raised (lifted) position is subjected to a force from above.
