THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING HYDROCARBONS BY REDUCTION OF CARBON MONOXIDE WHEREIN A COBALT-LOADING CATALYST HAVING A SUPPORT OF A METAL OXIDE AND ZIRCONIUM LOADED THEREON, 60 PERCENT OF WHICH ZIRCONIUM IS PRESENT IN THE 49 PERCENT BY VOLUME REGION RANGING FROM THE OUTER SURFACE SIDE OF THE SUPPORT, IS REDUCED AT A TEMPERATURE OF 410 TO 470�C UNDER HYDROGEN ATMOSPHERE FOR 4 TO 12 HOURS AND THEN PUT IN USE IN REDUCTION OF CARBON MONOXIDE. THE PROCESS ENABLES THE CARBON MONOXIDE REDUCTION TO PROCEED WITHOUT CAUSING ANY RUNAWAY REACTION. |
