[Class 2 (iii)] An adhesive for attaching polymers of ethylene which do not melt below about 100‹ C. to iron, steel, brass, zinc, aluminium, stone, brick, earthenware or portland cement, comprises 1 to 2 parts by weight of a polymer of ethyleneas defined above, and 1 part of a cyclo-rubber. The adhesive is prepared by mixing the ingredients for instance by milling them on a heated rubber mill. In bonding the polymer to the metal or other material, the adhesive is applied to the pre-heated material, the adhesive being either melted by contact or pre-heated, and the polymer is.then applied either as a preformed sheet, a powder, or as a paste in water. The process may be employed to provide vats, pans or other vessels with linings of high chemical resistance, and in the production of electrical equipment.
