PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assess relative quality between a directly viewed picture or video and a picture or video recalled from memory.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a processor for predicting perceptual differences between colors recalled from memory and directly viewed colors in a tested video. The processor includes a memory effects processor structured to generate compensation factors for distortions of color due to memory effects and apply the compensation factors to data from the reference video or data from the tested video. The compensation factors include factors for changes in saturation over time, changes in hue angle, and changes in uncertainty, and a categorization factor that reflects a trend in shifts and towards cardinal color centroids over time in memory. |
