PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium processor which can simplify the control for a thermal head when a code is printed even when a code printing function for printing a prescribed code is carried out by the thermal head in addition to the printing function.SOLUTION: In a medium processor, a block code 51 comprising a plurality of blocks 52 with width W that are approximately constant and lined up in a conveying direction X is printed on a medium 2 by a thermal head. This medium processor reproduces magnetic information of the medium 2 when the medium 2 is inserted, reads the block code 51 of the medium 2 and determines whether or not the reproduced magnetic information is correct. The medium processor discharges the medium 2 to a medium collecting mechanism when the magnetic information is correct, or determines whether or not information corresponding to the read block code 51 is correct when the magnetic information is not correct. Then the medium processor discharges the medium 2 to the medium collecting mechanism when the information corresponding to the read block code 51 is correct, or transmits error information when the information corresponding to the read block code 51 is not correct.
