REFRIGERATOR AND CONTROL METHOD OF THE SAME

PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided to minimize defrosting time and power consumption required for defrosting by defrosting an evaporator in a state where a refrigerant of the evaporator is minimized. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises a compressor (2), a condenser (4), an expansion device (6), an evaporator (8), a defrosting device (10), a refrigerant control valve (12), and a control part. The compressor compresses a refrigerant. The condenser condenses the refrigerant compressed by the compressor. The refrigerant condensed by the condenser passes through the expansion device. The evaporator evaporates the refrigerant expanded by the expansion device and cools an internal space of the refrigerator. The defrosting device defrosts the evaporator. The refrigerant control valve controls the refrigerant flowing from the condenser to the evaporator. The control part turns on the defrosting device after operating the compressor and closing the refrigerant control valve.
