<p>PURPOSE: An electric steering device and a control method thereof are provided to control the amount of torque of a steering wheel by controlling the amount of currents supplied to a motor. CONSTITUTION: A control method of an electric steering device comprises as follows. Torque which a driver applies to a steering wheel is detected, and an electric signal which is proportional to the detected torque is outputted. The electric signal which is proportional to the rotation angle of the steering wheel is outputted. Whether a sign of the electric signal outputted from a torque sensor and a sign of the electric signal supplied by a steering sensor are matched or not is determined. The amount of currents, which is applied to the motor generating auxiliary power applied to the steering wheel, is controlled.
