PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an olefin dimerization catalyst in which an olefin compound photodimerization reaction can be efficiently progressed even not needing an organic compound crystallizing process; and a method of manufacturing a cyclobutane compound and a dimerization reaction execution method of an olefin compound using the catalyst.SOLUTION: An olefin dimerization catalyst comprises an aqua-complex of a lanthanoid, and is such that olefin compounds having a substituent in which hydrogen bonding to a hydrogen atom can be performed are mutually photodimerized under irradiation of ultraviolet. In addition, the olefin dimerization catalyst is used.
