PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst which exhibits excellent exhaust gas purifying performance without containing noble metal.SOLUTION: An exhaust gas purifying catalyst 1 is used for purifying exhaust gas. The exhaust gas purifying catalyst 1 contains porous metal particles 2 having a plurality of open pores 21 on the surface, and fine metal particles 3 supported on the porous metal particles 2 and having a smaller particle size than the porous metal particle 2. The porous metal particle 2 contains Co as a major component, and the fine metal particle 3 contains Fe as a major component. A combination ratio of Co and Fe of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst 1 is Co:Fe=5:1 to 1:5 in mole ratio.
