545,758. Self-aligning bearings. ROULEMENTS A BILLES MINIATURES SOC. ANON. Sept. 19, 1941, No. 12074. Convention date, Nov. 11, 1940. [Class 12 (i)] In a ball-bearing with two concentric series of balls, the raceways of the outer series are spheres with a common centre. The inner series may consist of one or two rows of balls 16, 17, Fig. 1, which engage a collar on the axle 15 and have an outer raceway formed within the two parts 11, 12 of a hollow sphere, the axle passing through opposite holes 13, 14. Parts 11, 12 are of constant-thickness and are engaged by the outer series which may consist of one or two rows of balls 6, 7. The ball cage 8 of this series may be locked by having a pin 9 which enters a recess 10 at the outer raceway. This raceway may consist of two members 2, 3 with a compressible element between to allow adjustment of the bearing play. In a modification, Fig. 3, the inner track member 32 has a cylindrical bore 36 and an annular groove 37 for a row of balls 38 seated on an annular groove 39 in the axle sleeve 40. |
