PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a print system in which both the printer and a first device connectable with the printer can be operated as a master.SOLUTION: A printer 200 connectable with an external controller 100 comprises a command/status interface control section 204 and an image data interface control section 205 communicating with the external controller 100, a storage device 203, a print control section 202 and a data transfer control section 201. In accordance with master setting information from the external controller 100, the data transfer control section 201 sets whether to operate the printer 200 as a master device. When transferring print image data, in the case where the printer 200 is set to be operated as the master device, the data transfer control section 201 controls to request read of print image data to the external controller 100 and, in the case where the printer 200 is set not to be operated as the master device, controls to wait transfer of print image data from the external controller 100. |
