PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing erythritan at high yield having a small reduction of yield caused by influences of enlargement of a production scale, or a change of a reaction temperature, pressure or a residence time of erythritan in a reaction liquid generated by a change of various factors in operation.SOLUTION: In this method for producing erythritan, when producing erythritan by intramolecular dehydration of erythritol, an acid catalyst whose pKis 0.7-3 is allowed to exist always as much as ≥0.1 time mole to erythritol. The reaction is preferably carried out, while removing produced erythritan and water to the outside of a reaction system. Further, the reaction is preferably carried out, while supplying erythritol into the reaction system. |
