PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a road surface marking map including road surface marking from an image obtained by photographing a road surface while traveling on a road. SOLUTION: The road surface is photographed with a video camera while traveling on the road, and the positional coordinate at each photographing point is acquired with a GPS (Global Positioning System) or the like. A computer converts each frame image of this moving image to generate orthographic images viewed from immediately above, and arranges it on a traveling path based on the positional coordinate of the photographing points, thereby generating a coupling image. Next, corresponding points P53-P56 commonly projected in coupling images PIC54 and PIC55 for a plurality of paths of different positions are automatically specified by imaging processing. Then, the arrangement of each orthographic image constituting the coupling images is parallel translated so that the corresponding point of the path on the side of low position accuracy matches the corresponding point of the path on the side of high position accuracy when an image is photographed.
