PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying inulin by using simulated moving bed type chromatography, capable of performing purification in a good efficiency by solving peculiar problems such as the deposition and thermal decomposition of the inulin, etc., when the simulated moving bed type chromatography is used for purifying inulin from a stock solution containing the inulin and low molecular saccharides.SOLUTION: When inulin is purified by treating a stock solution containing the inulin and low molecular saccharides by simulated moving bed type chromatography of using eluent including water, the purification of the inulin is performed at temperatures without causing the deposition of components in the stock solution and also the decomposition of the inulin is inhibited by adding a base to at least one of the stock solution and eluent. |
