PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for material wood by which a post-treatment of a veneer which has been cut from material wood and a post-treatment of the peeled core of the material wood can be jointed to rationalize. SOLUTION: During cutting of the good-quality veneer 2B from the material wood 2 by using a veneer lathe 1, even when at least a part of the outer peripheral section of the material wood becomes unsuitable for the cutting of the good-quality veneer 2B because of the presence of defects such as core rot 2y before reaching the specified peeling core diameter D, the cutting is continued until reaching a desired peeling core diameter D1. Then, at the rear area of the veneer lathe 1, all the veneer section after the start of the inclusion of at least a low-quality veneer 2C is cut off from the good-quality veneer 2B, and is processed by discrimination as a waste veneer in this processing method for material wood.
