PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for increasing the mobility of an arthritic dog.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for increasing the mobility of a dog by administering eicosapentaenoic acid to alleviate cartilage damage in the dog. In so doing, at least one gene involved in cartilage degradation is down-regulated or turned off so that the mRNA message expression of an enzyme, such as aggrecanase, causing the cartilage degradation in a cartilaginous tissue can be reduced.
