The invention relates to a curling iron (1) comprising a handle region (2) and a heatable working region (3). A fundamental concept of the invention is that the working region (3) is designed in two parts, namely a first part (4) and a second part (5) that is at least partially coaxial with the first part (4). To produce curls, hair (6) can be wound on the first part (4) and can be inserted with said part into the second part (5). This allows the hair to be styled with minimum damage and the curling iron to be handled safely (1).
