<p>A configuration (power device) which has an engine and an electric motor, and which uses the electric motor to start the engine, wherein the power consumption of the electric motor is reduced when the engine is start up. A power device contains: an engine (10) provided with an ignition plug (34); an electric motor (40) connected to the crank shaft (12) of the engine (10); and a control unit. When starting the engine (10), the control unit executes engine start-up control for starting the engine (10) by creating an air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber (C) of the engine (10), rotating the crank shaft (12) in the reverse rotational direction by means of the electric motor (40) to compress the air-fuel mixture, and by igniting the air-fuel mixture by means of the ignition plug (34) at the time when the crank shaft (12) reaches a predetermined position (crank angle (Cr1)) before the compression top dead center to rotate the crank shaft (12) in the normal rotational direction.</p> |
