Embodiments of the present invention provide a method for displaying a reachable area, comprising determining a plurality of maximal reachable locations from an initial location based on a route search using digital map data, selecting, for each of a plurality of regions arranged around the initial location, one of the reachable locations according to at least one criteria, and displaying on a display device an area shaped according to the selected reachable locations.
