In an embodiment of the present invention, an endoscope includes an insertion unit having a bending portion on a distal end side thereof, an endoscope main body provided on a proximal end side of the insertion unit, a left-and-right direction bending mechanism coupled with the bending portion, a left-and-right direction bending drive unit generating drive force to bend the bending portion in a left-and-right direction, a drive force transmission mechanism transmitting the drive force to the left-and-right direction bending mechanism and a cord portion extending from the endoscope main body and supplies electrical power from the outside to the left-and-right direction bending drive unit, wherein the left-and-right direction bending drive unit is provided on the endoscope main body and arranged along an extending direction of the cord unit. |
