PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably continue shear current reduction effects at a low cost with high workability.SOLUTION: In an electric contact comprising a Cu host phase and a compound of Cu dispersed in the Cu host phase and a low melting point metal, vapor pressure at 1000°C of the low melting point metal is 10Pa or more, a stoichiometric composition ratio of the compound that is a value of low melting point metal/Cu is greater than 0.5 and a length direction of the compound is oriented at 90°±10° with respect to a contact plane. In a manufacturing method of the electric contact, a mixture containing the Cu host phase and the compound is drawn while being heated under an area reduction rate of 70 to 85%, and a plane which is area-reduced at the area reduction rate is used as the contact plane of the electric contact.
