PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for wireless communications using two different physical layers with a common medium access control layer.SOLUTION: An embodiment comprises: monitoring conditions of a wireless communications channel used to communicate with one or more wireless apparatuses; selecting between at least first and second physical layers for use in communicating with the wireless apparatuses, based at least in part on the monitored conditions; and processing messages with a common media access control (MAC) protocol layer regardless of which of the first and second physical layers is selected. |
