The brake drum (1) has a stamped sheet (2) including a circular cylindrical portion (4) having a braking surface, and a part forming a hub (8) centered on an axis (A). A thermal crown (20) surrounding the cylindrical portion includes a clamping ring (22) held by clamping on the cylindrical portion, where a circular thermal mass (24) made of a good thermal conductivity material is fixed on the ring. The clamping ring is formed by a circular steel band flattened on the cylindrical portion, where the thermal mass is made out of aluminum alloy. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing the brake drum.
