PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase in a luminous volume even when an electrodeless discharge lamp is used.SOLUTION: A light source device includes: a magnetic body core 2 having a U shape; a coil wound around the magnetic body core 2; a power supply supplying high-frequency current to the coil; and a luminous tube 1 which is provided at a position held at facing ends of the magnetic body core 2 and in which a discharge medium is sealed. A magnetic field 6 is generated between the facing ends of the magnetic body core 2, and an induction field 7 is generated by the magnetic field 6. The power supply supplies a power source at a drive frequency that is a high frequency of a predetermined frequency or more, from start-up until the temperature in the luminous tube 1 reaches a predetermined temperature, while supplies the power source at a drive frequency of the predetermined frequency after reaching the predetermined temperature. |
