PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of further effectively reducing power consumption.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: detection means for detecting currents flowing a power source unit and a heating unit, while operating a secondary-side load before the start of image formation; calculation means for calculating a current used on the secondary side from a detection result of the detection means, and calculating heating unit suppliable power that can be supplied to the heating unit, of the power that can be supplied from a commercial power source to a power supply circuit, from the current used on the secondary side; and selection means for selecting a preliminary heating temperature at which, when the heating unit suppliable power calculated by the calculation means is supplied to the heating unit, a time required to increase a temperature of the heating unit from the preliminary heating temperature to a start-up target temperature becomes closest to a predetermined start-up target time. The image forming apparatus executes start-up operation at the preliminary heating temperature selected by the selection means. |
