PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an other-vehicle detection apparatus capable of accurately detecting other vehicles while suppressing false recognition.SOLUTION: A lateral velocity calculation part (14) in an ECU (12) acquires (S1) lateral velocities VxN and vertical distances DyN of a plurality of stationary objects by a millimeter wave radar (2), calculates (S2) angular velocitiesθN of the respective stationary objects, finds out (S3) an average valueθ, and sets the average value as its own vehicle angular velocityθ. Further the lateral velocity calculation part acquires (S5) a lateral velocity Vxand a vertical distance Dyof another vehicle by the millimeter wave radar, calculates (S6) a corrected lateral velocity Vxof the other vehicle on the basis of its own vehicle angular velocity, and calculates (S7) a real lateral velocity Vxfrom the lateral velocity of the other vehicle by using the corrected lateral velocity.
