PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is improved in visibility.SOLUTION: When a lighting pattern to be output to an LCD 104 is switched from a first lighting pattern for lighting a first segment group to a second lighting pattern for lighting a second segment group, a voltage is applied to a segment which is not common to the second segment group in the first segment group only for a predetermined time since the switching point of time.
