The protective unit has a tape folded along three surfaces for matching with rectilinear side walls (PR) and a set of smaller concentric sidewalls (PC1), where the protective unit is made from rigid plastic having thickness in range about 0.8-2 mm. An edge of the tape is bent to grip a set of wider concentric side walls (PC2). Bent edges (BR) of the protective unit cover about 5-50 % of the wider concentric side wall form rounded tooth (DT) of a discoidal stator (SD) such that a space having width of 1% greater than width of each smaller side wall is formed between the wider side walls. An independent claim is also included for a method for winding a discoid stator.
