Provided is a liquid crystal aligning agent which is capable of providing a liquid crystal alignment film that is suppressed in decrease of the voltage holding ratio, in addition to good initial characteristics, even if exposed to light irradiation for a long period of time and that achieves rapid relaxation of the charges accumulated by a direct current voltage. This liquid crystal aligning agent contains the following component (A) and component (B).
