PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and program capable of suppressing the amount of generation of material generated by heating of a fixing unit without providing a dedicated member.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes fixing means including a cylindrical surface that is brought into contact with a recording medium while rotated around the central shaft to fix a toner image on the recording medium, and switching means for switching a conveyance direction so that the direction of a predetermined side of the recording medium with respect to the fixing means becomes one of a direction corresponding to a first direction that is the extending direction of the central shaft of the fixing means and a direction corresponding to a second direction that is a direction intersecting with the first direction. The image forming apparatus controls the switching means so that the recording medium is conveyed in a direction corresponding to the smaller integrated value of an integrated value along the first direction of the area of a part of the cylindrical surface of the fixing means that is brought into contact with the toner image first during fixation and an integrated value along the second direction of the area of the part. |
