Provided is a vehicular display device that can protect the device by an illumination control process and that enables recognition of an illumination control process state by confirming the display on the display means (1). The vehicular display device is provided with: a display unit (B) including a display means (1) that displays vehicle information and a backlight (2) that illuminates the display means (1); a temperature detection means (5) that detects the temperature of the display unit (B); and a control means (3) that drivingly controls the display means (1) and the backlight (2). When the temperature is higher than a predetermined temperature value on the basis of a detection value from the temperature detection means (5), the control means (3) implements an illumination control process (S5) for decreasing the brightness of illumination by the backlight (2), and a display control process (S4) for modifying the color of display by the display means (1). |
