The present technology relates to the following: a solid-state image pickup device having a global shutter function and a phase difference auto-focus function, in which resolution degradation is suppressed and phase- difference detection accuracy is improved; a driving method for the solid-state image pickup device; and an electronic apparatus. The solid-state image pickup device is provided with the following: a pixel array section in which arrayed are, as pixels provided with an on-chip lens, a photoelectric conversion section, and a charge accumulation section, image pickup pixels that are for generating an image pickup image and phase difference detection pixels for conducting phase difference detection; and a drive control section for controlling the driving of the pixels. The image pickup pixels are formed so that the charge accumulation section is shielded from light. The phase difference detection pixels are formed so that at least a portion of the photoelectric conversion section and/or the charge accumulation section is not shielded from light. The feature of the present invention can be used with, for example, a CMOS image sensor. |
