The invention relates to a filter system, extractor hood and kitchen provided therewith, and a method for extracting air. The filter system according to the invention comprises : - a suction opening; - a fan operatively connected to the suction opening for drawing in air through the suction opening; - an electric filter; - a sensor for measuring an indrawn airflow; and - control means operatively connected to the sensor for switching an electric filter.
