<p>The method for detecting a target nucleic acid is provided with a hybridization process in which a nucleic acid amplification product, which is associated with the target nucleic acid and has a double-stranded portion and a tag chain that is a single-stranded portion located protruding from at least one end of the double-stranded portion, and a probe, which is capable of hybridizing with one of the tag chains, are brought into contact with each other under conditions in which a first hybridization product can be formed. In the hybridization process, the formation of hybridization byproducts of the probe with at least one kind of nucleic acid structure selected from (a) and (b): (a) amplification primers capable of holding a labeling substance or a labeling substance-binding substance, (b) amplification products derived from amplification primer dimers that comprise amplification primers capable of holding a labeling substance or a labeling substance-binding substance, is limited.</p> |
