1. A method of measuring a temperature profile and length of a structure along a measurement axis comprising:
installing a continuous measurement pathway along a measurement axis of a structure, the pathway having a longitudinal axis with proximal and distal ends and at least two backscatterers formed in the continuous measurement pathway transverse to the longitudinal axis and separated by a predetermined separation distance; positioning an ultrasonic emitter at the proximal end for transmitting at least one ultrasonic pulse along the measurement pathway to produce pulse echoes from the at least two backscatterers; determining, using a processing device, at least one time interval between the pulse echoes; calculating, using the processing device, an average temperature between the at least two backscatterers from that at least one time interval; and calculating, using the processing device, a temperature distribution between the at least two backscatterers from the average temperature. |
