A hollow electrode is provided that surrounds the axis coaxially and as the element configured for conducting current is connected in electrically conductive manner to the welding current connector, wherein the guidance means are designed to advance the wire-like welding filler material in potential free manner. The welding torch may be used as part of a welding apparatus for a variety of welding methods.
