The vacuum-aided primer applying apparatus has an applicator nozzle (14) having an applicator chamber (16) and a suction chamber (18). A supply system supplies primer from a reservoir (28) to the applicator chamber. A suction system withdraws air and primer from the suction chamber. A cyclone separator (34) separates the primer from the withdrawn air to recirculate the separated primer into the reservoir. An independent claim is included for a vacuum-aided primer applying method.
