摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel material for a rolling roll for a galvanized steel sheet capable of preventing defects generated on a roll surface without increasing a specific consumption as a roll material, and having excellent spalling resistance, and to provide a rolling roll for a galvanized steel sheet. <P>SOLUTION: A steel material for a rolling roll for a galvanized steel sheet includes C: 0.8-1.00%, Si: 0.3-1.5%, Mn:≤1.0% (excluding 0%), Cr: 2.0-6.0%, Mo: 0.01-1.0%, Al: 0.010-0.050% and N: 0.001-0.020%, wherein the residue comprises iron and inevitable impurities, and in SEM observation of a cross section obtained by being cut vertically to a steel material longitudinal direction used as a rolling roll axis, the number of nitrides whose major axis is≥0.1μm existing on a position from the outermost surface of the steel material to the depth direction of 100 mm is 3-30/100μm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>, and the maximum major axis of the nitrides is≤4.0μm.
