The present invention relates to investigation of Nampt which is a downstream target of HIF-2α, a master regulatory factor about cartilage degeneration, and to uses thereof. According to the present invention, expression of Nampt is increased in cartilage cells or cartilage tissue inducing joint diseases, and Nampt induces expression of various matrix-breakdown enzymes (for example, Mmp3, Mmp9, Mmp12, Mmp13, etc). Also, Nampt of the present invention increases generation of NAD+ and promotes activation of SirT1. Accordingly, Nampt of the present invention can be used for diagnosis or prognosis of joint diseases, and development of a medicine for joint diseases. |
