PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting/measuring protease in a biological sample with less steps and shorter operation time than the conventional methods using antibodies, which method would not require accurate molecular designing, would generate less fluorescence or luminescence that is a cause of background, and is free from such a problem that time lag is liable to occur between protease cleavage and luciferase rearrangement.SOLUTION: The method of the invention for measuring protease activity comprises the steps of: preparing a carrier to which a reporter protein is immobilized via a protease-recognizing sequence; bringing the carrier in contact with a protease; collecting the reporter protein released from the carrier after the cleavage of the protease-recognizing sequence by the action of the protease; and determining the luminescence, color development or fluorescence derived from the collected reporter protein. The invention also provides an assay kit for measuring protease activity comprising a carrier on which a reporter protein is immobilized via a protease-recognizing sequence, as well as a carrier on which a reporter protein is immobilized via a protease-recognizing sequence. |
