PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a surface-processed steel plate for battery containers which makes possible to suppress the elution of iron inside a battery thereby to achieve a longer battery life, and to improve the battery characteristics including a discharge characteristic when used for a battery container.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a surface-processed steel plate for battery container comprises: a first step of forming an iron-nickel alloy plating layer on at least one surface of a steel plate; a second step of forming a nickel plating layer on the iron-nickel alloy plating layer; and a third step of forming an outermost layer composed of an iron-nickel alloy layer by performing a thermal treatment to cause thermal diffusion after the formation of the nickel plating layer, provided that the content of Fe atoms in the outermost surface of the outermost layer is 12-55 atom%. |
